12 Most Life-Changing Beauty Hacks Ever

Looking gorgeous and smelling incredible have never been more foolproof

Looking gorgeous and smelling incredible have never been more foolproof.

1. For better grip, flip the bobby pin over so the wavy side is against your head.

If you have a hard time keeping your bobby pins in place, try flipping the pin over. The straight side is slicker and won't grip as well as the wavy, more textured side.

2. Insert bobby pins into your ponytail holder vertically to prop up your ponytail.
Once you've put your hair in a ponytail, insert two or three bobby pins halfway inside the elastic and facing downward toward the crown of your head. Then, fluff your ponytail and flip it over for a fuller look that won't sag or droop.

Left: Before; Right: After

3. Texturize milkmaid braids with a teasing brush or toothbrush.
French maid braids look best when they're roughed up a little to achieve that lived-in look. To get that effect instantly, take a teasing brush or a toothbrush, and texturize the braids by brushing them against the way they've been braided.

4. Twist your hair, and slip your bobby pin underneath to discreetly pin back your strands.

If you're looking for a way to pull back the sides of your hair but don't want the pins to show, try this simple technique: Insert a bobby pin with the open end pointing toward your face and in the opposite direction of the section you're pinning back. If one bobby pin isn't strong enough, try using a larger one or reinforce it with a second pin right below.

5. Dust an eyeshadow (in the same color family as your hair) along your part to shade your scalp slightly, making your hair appear thicker.
Not only will this trick work IRL, but in pictures your hair will appear super-thick. You can also use this hack along your hairline if you wear it in a ponytail a lot or simply don't like to part your hair to get the same results.

6. Use a concealer that's slightly lighter than your skin tone to line three tiny sections of your eyes: the inner "V," the middle section of your eyelid, and just below your brow bone.

Lightly blend for instantly well-rested eyes and a highlight that looks natural. Great for days when you didn't get enough sleep.

7. Amp up your going-out makeup by contouring and highlighting your facial features with two concealers: one two shades darker than your skin tone and one two shades lighter.

If you're using pencil concealers, you have more control of the placement, which makes contouring easy. Just draw the lighter shade of concealer on the areas that naturally catch light, and use a darker one to shade in the areas that are naturally shaded. Then, blend with a buffing brush like this one from Tarte Cosmetics.

8. Fix foundation stains with a little bit of shaving cream.
If you take off your shirt and accidentally smudge your makeup on the collar, just wipe a dollop of shaving cream on the spot to pretreat it before tossing it in the wash.

9. Turn a pencil eyeliner into a gel formula with the help of a match.
Hold your black, green, burgundy, etc., kohl eye pencil (which typically creates a thin, harder-to-apply line), under the flame for one second, let it cool for 15 seconds, and then watch the consistency change right before your eyes. Glide on your newly made gel liner for an instantly smudgier formula.

10. Use the handle and the rounded edge of a spoon to create the perfect winged liner.
Hold the handle of a spoon against the outer corner of your eye, and draw a straight line. Then, flip the spoon so it's hugging your eyelid, and use the rounded outer edge to create a perfectly curved, winged tip. After you've made your outline, fill it in, and draw a line across your lashline to finish the look.
11. Dust baby powder over your eyelashes between the first and second coats of mascara to plump up your lashes.
Translucent powder or baby powder has grip, so it will stick to your lashes in between each coat of mascara, making your lashes appear more voluminous.

12. Get the perfect smoky eye by drawing a hashtag on the outer corner of your eyelid and smudging it out with the sponge.
Keep drawing hashtags and smudging it out to get a darker, smokier look.

Place the edge of the tape in line with your bottom lash line and angle the top toward the end of your eyebrow.

100. “The best thing to do when you go to a makeup counter is be armed with what it is you want to do.”- Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie’s colour ambassador

99. Use excess eye cream on cuticles. The more you hydrate your cuticles, the stronger your nails will be.

98. For smudge-proof eye makeup, take blotting tissue to remove any oil or any excess makeup from the eye area. Then, apply a small dab of cream concealer to hold things in place.

97. “A good perfume should consist of balanced blend of notes arranged in a way that creates harmonious accord.”- Alexis Bergman, P&G’s Global Flavor and Fragrance Trends

96. To prevent hair color from fading in the summer months, use a conditioning treatment weekly or bi-monthly.

95. Breakout before a big event? “Take oral cortisone a few days before the event to clear your skin”- Ava Shamban, dermatologist and author of Heal Your Skin.

94. “In order to keep eyeliner from running and smearing, opt for liner formulas that offer stayproof wearability.”- Robin Schoen, Urban Decay Makeup Artist

93. Always allow about two fingers from your nose to where blush starts.

92. “Make sure you hydrate the skin and put on a primer”- Jessie Powers, makeup artist and national educator for Make Up For Ever

91. “Balance out your shimmer. If you’re doing a shimmery eye, opt for a matte lipstick.”- Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie’s colour ambassador

90. Brush out your curls with your fingers to give your hair a more tousled look.

89. To make your manicure last, apply a thin layer of clear every two days. Pay particular attention to the
free edge at the top of your nails, where chips usually happen, and apply extra clear polish there.

88. Wear white eyeliner in your water line to make eyes appear less red.

87. “Take a shimmery gloss to the center of your lips, top and bottom – this will attract light to your lips, making them look pouty.”-Katrina Barrion, makeup artist for Giella Custom Blend Cosmetics

86. For slicked back hair, use a hair serum.

85. For the perfect cat-eye, “select a thin liner brush that is tapered to the point.”- Pamela Taylor, makeup artist. Use a gel eyeliner for extra staying power.

84. To make your cheek bones appear higher, use bronzer under the cheekbone and highlighter on the actual cheekbone, and remember to blend. Contouring at its finest!

83. Before you blow dry, start with a volumizing spray or light gel to give the roots some lift. Pull the brush up towards the ceiling to really boost volume.

82. For fuller lips, extend the lip line using a flesh tone lip liner. Be careful not to go overboard, though!

81. The #1 reason for flaky mascara is that the formula is too dry or old. Make sure to close mascara after use to help keep its moisture. To extend the life a bit, add 2-3 drops of saline solution into the tube and swirl the brush around.

80. To fake clear skin when you notice a pimple, “Apply tea tree oil as soon as you spot it”- Stephanie Flor, makeup artist.

78. For acne-free skin, look for a cleanser with salycilic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

77. When choosing a red lipstick, you just want to remember to get one that looks good with your undertone. If you have a warm undertone, then go for warmer reds, and if you have a cool undertone, then go cooler.

76. Sunscreens that claim to provide “all-day protection” and “water resistance” are not reliable; don’t be fooled by these claims and reapply all sunscreens at least every 2-3 hours.

75. When self-tanning, use a tanner with a guide color. “It will give you instant color before the effect and it will show you exactly where you put the color and where you may have missed”- Sinead Norenius, founder of Beautisol.

74. “If you’re afraid of red lipstick, I love putting it on and then blotting it off to wear it as more of a stain”- Pat McGrath, makeup artist. Another way to make it less intense? Apply with your fingertip instead of straight from the tube.

73. For the summer months, you don’t want to be caked down in foundation, so try a tinted moisturizer or BB cream instead.

72. Use blotting papers to manage oil and shine in your T-Zone, “which are also great for cleaning up around the eyes”- Rebecca Restrepo, makeup artist.

71. The antihistamines in allergy medicine dry out the skin, so skip heavy foundation during allergy season. Instead, use a tinted moisturizer.

70. To make curls last, make sure hair is completely dry before you begin with the curling iron. Also, use a heat protectant spray with hold on damp hair to keep hair protected.

69. To make a zit go away faster, don’t pick at it. The bacteria on your fingers will create more redness, and any attempt at popping will make things worse.

68. Use an exfoliator to get rid of dead skin, but limit yourself to 2-3 times a week so you don’t dry out your skin. Use a gentler scrub on your face and a coarser scrub on the rest of your body.

66. “Too much bronzer is a nightmare for pale skin”- Jason Ascher, resident beauty expert for Barneys New York. Opt for an illuminating cream or light powder to get a glow.

62. To make volume last all day, avoid running your fingers through hair. “Oil from your hands can weigh down your roots leaving your hair flat at the end of the day”-Tatum Neill, Arrojo Studio

61. Try to avoid washing your hair everyday. Constant shampooing leaves hair dry and your scalp will create more oils to compensate for the loss of moisture. Instead, use a dry shampoo and style your hair into a braid or ponytail when it’s a bit more oily.

60. Always use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning. Even in the winter!

59.”Go for a trim every 6-8 weeks to ensure you have no damaged ends making your hair look unhealthy”- Nick Arrojo, Arrojo Studio (and the man who worked for seven years changing lives on What Not To Wear).

56. Winter can be especially harsh on your hair leaving it extra dry. Eugene Davis, celebrity hair stylist suggests using an Avocado Oil Hair Mask.

54. During the summer, wear lip balm or gloss with SPF.

53. To add volume to clean or unwashed hair, use a dry shampoo spray.

52.Change your beauty routine for spring and summer months. Your skin needs less coverage during the spring so you can swap the heavy, winter products for lighter ones.

51.”I always think that less is more. There’s a point where you look in the mirror and say ‘Is this too much?’ and if you even have that inclination then it usually is.”- Kim Catrall, Sex and the City.

50. When applying bronzer, “first start by applying it around the perimeter of your face and follow with a light dusting on your forehead, nose and chin”- Mally Roncal, Mally Beauty.

41. If you’re not a fan of liquid liner, get the look of liquid eye liner by using a gel instead.

31. To contour cheeks, use a matte powder (a few shades darker than your skin tone) with an angled brush. Blend on temples and under cheek bone.

30.When using a cream product (blush or eyeshadow), lock it in by using a translucent powder over it.

29. Get quick volume by using a root lifter, then use hairspray to set hair. This will prevent it from falling flat during the day.

28. For makeup that lasts all day and night, use a makeup-sealing product like a setting spray.

27. To help you find the right shade of foundation, choose the product you think is closest to your color and try it on your jawline in natural light. You will be able to easily compare it to your neck’s color to see if you need to go for a different undertone, lighter or darker.

26. Try out the funky hair color trends without dyeing your hair. Instead, dust bright blush in your ponytail for the same effect.
25. “Foot perspiration is typical in the summer and can lead to fungal infection and unwanted odor. Wash feet daily, and let them dry thoroughly before putting shoes on”- Dr. Leslie Campbell, DPM.

8 Tips to Make Your Legs Look Longer & Beautiful

One of the things girls pay most attention to is how their legs look like. We would all like them thin, tanned, stretch marks free and long, very long. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with mile long legs, so we have to apply a couple of tricks. Here they are.

These tips are easy, but very effective. If you follow them, I guarantee that your legs will look not only longer, but also prettier. Check it out!

1. High Heels and Platforms

Let me start by stating the obvious – yes, wearing high heels and platform shoes will make your legs look longer. They will give you a couple of inches in height, but they should not be worn at all times.
High heels and platforms are not that good for your health and wearing them often can cause pains in your feet, ankles, knees, hips and even in your spine. Try to save them for special occasions and choose more comfortable shoes for every day.

2. The Color of Your Shoes

It’s not all about wearing high heels, your legs can look visually longer in flats too, only if you hit the right color. Believe it or not, black is not the best choice. Wearing black shoes actually makes you look shorter, because they make your feet look smaller. Great for tall girls, but for short ones – not so much.
The shoes you are looking for are as closest to the natural tone of your skin as possible. That way, the line between your legs and your shoes will not be so obvious. The result – your legs will look longer.

3. Shorts and Skirts

Woman wearing white skirt

Logically, the shorter your shorts or skirt, the longer your legs will look. However, you can’t really walk around in something that looks more like underwear than like shorts, so here’s another solution.

Buy shorts and skirts that have high waist. That way, you’ll make the part of your legs above your knees visually longer, because it will seem that your waist line is higher than it is.

4. A – line Skirts

Another great trick to make your legs look longer is to wear a – line skirts and dresses. The length of the skirt or the dress itself here is not really of great importance, it could very well be down to the ground, the pattern is what matters.
A – line skirts and dresses are tight at your waist and then go wider. It is exactly that wideness that makes your legs visually longer. Embrace the a – line pattern.

5. Jeans and Pants

Young Woman Wearing Jeans And Black High Heels

Unlike the skirts, jeans and pants that are wider at the bottom actually make your legs look shorter. When it comes to jeans and pants, your choice should be dark skinny jeans and straight pants that are just little bit longer than they should be.

There’s a great trick hiding in here. If you put on a pair of jeans and pants that are just 1” longer than they should be and combine them with high heel shoes, so that you don’t step on them, your legs will get that 1” in length. However, don’t go crazy with this, because if you are stepping on your pants, you’ll get the quite opposite effect.

6. Black Stockings

They are elegant, they are sexy and they make your legs look longer – the black stockings are your friends. These are especially effective if you have short, slightly chunky legs. The stocking itself will nicely pack your leg and hide all the imperfections, while the dark color will make them look both thinner and longer. Great, right?

7. Discreet Glow

If you’re not really a fan of stockings and prefer your legs to be naked, there’s a great solution for you too. It is called the discreet glow.
Buy a body glow or a sparkling body lotion and apply in a very thin layer (remember the key word here is discreet) along the outer line of your legs – from ankles to hips. This thin vertical line of glow will give a discreet accent to the longest line of your legs, thus making them look longer.

8. Attitude

As with any other beauty problem, your attitude is the best solution. The best products in the world will not help you unless you are a confident individual. So, put that pretty skirt and your favorite pair of shoes on and walk into a night club as if your legs were the longest legs on earth. Trust me, this works like a charm.
Well, those are the tips I have for you. If you can contribute with your own tip on how to make your legs look longer, feel free to do so in comments.

Surely the above mentioned tips will give be good news to those ladies who couldn’t take out much time from their busy life to keep their skin young and beautiful. And yes they even don’t need to rush to some store to bring anything special unlike the beauty products or any professional skin care treatment product recommended by any friend or salon specialist.

Runway Beauty: Italy Inspired Romance at Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2016

The Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2016 show in Milan presented a fashion collection which is the Designers’ tribute to Italy. The Designers’ vision, “Italy is Love”, was complemented by a makeup look highlighting luminous skin with a flawless, dewy finish; soft and smoky feline eyes and plump lips. Nails in a feminine, romantic shade completed the look.

Makeup: Pat McGrath for Dolce & Gabbana

To start, Dolce & Gabbana Essential UV Cream was first applied to hydrate the skin, followed by the Sheer Radiance Primer to build the perfect canvas for make up application. A flawless complexion was achieved using the Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation blended outward, from the center of the face out towards the ears. The Perfect Luminous Concealer was applied to the shadowed areas of the face and dabbed under the eyes, hiding blemishes and creating an impeccable base with an even skin tone. The cheeks displayed a warm, romantic flush by being delicately contoured with the new Blush in Bacio 50, which was swept onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears. The face was highlighted using The Illuminator in Eva 3 along the cheekbones and on the bridge of the nose, while the skin was set with a light dusting of The Pressed Powder across the nose and forehead.

The romantic, soft feline eye look was achieved with a base of Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Nude 30 blended across the eyelids. The two complementary shades of brown from The Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky 105 were mixed together and applied with a blending blush along the crease of the eyelids to create depth. For added definition, The Illuminator in Luna 4 was applied to the inner corner of the eyes and below the eyebrows. The upper lash lines were amplified by applying The Eyeliner in Chocolate 10 in an upward flick, and a line of the Glam Liner in Earthy Brown 2 was drawn along the upper lash line, to add an intense yet feminine feline finish. On the curled top lashes, layers of the Volumized Mascara in Black 1 were applied, paying special attention to the outer corners for definition and a lengthening finish.

The brows were sculpted with The Brow Liner in Soft Brown 1 and Mocha 3, using the wide part of the pencil nib with light, feathery strokes to fill the color outwards to the end of the brow, achieving a natural youthfulness to the face.

For beautiful, rosy plump lips, from the new collection of Dolce Matte Lipstick, a mixture of shades were combined to create perfectly tailored spring looks using Dolce Nudo 124, Miss Dolce 134, Dolce Dolcezza 212, Dolce Rosa 222, Dolce Sogno 223, Dolce Mamma 229, Dolce Excelsa 512 and Dolce Bacio 641. To give lips definition and to keep the lipstick in place, the lips were lined with The Lipliner in Mamma 17, Rosa 16, Dolcezza 15, Bacio 18 and Soft 6. Nails painted with The Nail Lacquer in Bella 210 evoke elegance and finish this soft and feminine Spring/Summer 2016 look.

FIX YOUR BEAUTY PROBLEMS OVERNIGHT!

Beauty Tips

Hey Gorgeouslicious Babes!

Want to fix your beauty problems overnight? Read on . . .

You know your skin works best while you sleep. As soon as you shut your eyes, your skin cells go to work, repairing damage and restoring your complexion. Night is the best time to pamper yourself with simple yet effective beauty treatment. So why not treat your skin with some natural treatment for the whole new glow!! Follow these overnight beauty tips and wake up looking your best.

CTM Routine – The Basics of Skin Care

Ironically, it is not just a simple basic routine that most of us know about but choose to ignore it. Cleansing your skin first, toning it and at the end moisturizing it, are considered as the three basic things that you must do to ensure a healthy glowing skin. CTM can make a huge contribution to the health of your skin. It enhances your beauty naturally and keeps your skin looking younger and healthier. “CTM is an absolute must. It’s the basic skin care regime, one should follow twice every day, for the rest of your life to get and keep skin”, says Ambika Pillai, the renowned makeup artist. So Girls, just start CTM and wake up with Gorgeouslicious Skin as a princess. I will also explain you the procedure of CTM in my future post. So, do you do CTM as part of your daily skin care?

Never sleep with makeup on

Are you guilty of sleeping in your makeup? I know how difficult it is to remove your makeup when you had a long day at office or a late night out and you are full exhausted. I totally understand, in fact I do sleep with makeup often. It feels like the bed is calling your name but wait right there! Before you fall face first into your pillow, be sure to remove your makeup because if you go to bed in full-faced makeup, this will easily cause pores to become clogged and way larger than you want them to visibly be. Makeup, dirt and oil quickly build up to cause blackheads, whiteheads and acne. The skin renews itself while you sleep, and when you leave makeup on, you are preventing that from happening. The skin ceases to breathe and fatigue signs appear soon enough.

NIGHT CREAM-THE SECRET OF MORNING BEAUTy

Skipping the night cream is a big no-no. Do care of your skin before going to bed. Slathering on a quality night cream before you go to sleep can lead to clearer and smoother skin. Trust me, Night Cream is the Mantra of overnight beautiful skin. But wait!  …Give it some time! The night creams are not going to miraculously transform your skin in one night. They take days and even weeks to show their full effects. So be patient and don’t forget to apply the product every night. Pick a cream that works with your skin type by focusing your biggest concern. Whether it’s fine lines, acne or uneven skin tone, there’s a product for you. Chose wisely to find the right one.

Get enough sleep

It turns out that sleep quality and healthy, youthful skin are deeply linked. A poor sleep leads to a dull, dehydrated complexion. Your night cream will not get much time to work unless you sleep well. Don’t expect magic from your night cream, if you’re only in bed for 3-4 hours.  Make sure you sleep at least for seven to eight hours of shut-eye.  A good sleep allows the skin to restore its natural balance and increases the effectiveness of your of certain skin care ingredients, potentially providing more benefit to your skin. When you don’t get enough sleep, your skin will show it. So sleep!

Rise and shine to a good hair day with overnight Hair treatment

Want to wake up with those beautiful dream locks! Make them silky smooth by applying plenty amount of warm hair oil at the night. Massage them well in circular motion into your roots with your finger tips. Leave overnight and wash them in the morning(avoid regular oiling when your skin texture is oily as the scalp would produce oil naturally). This will make your hair Healthy, soft and shiny. This will give your hair a natural bounce boost too!

Are you skipping your under eye care?

Give your eyes a wake-up call. Since skin around the eyes is much thinner than that of the face, wrinkles may appear prematurely. Choose an eye cream that meets your specific needs like puffiness, dark circles or fine lines. Look for products that are made specifically with these concerns in mind. Trust me, eye creams do work!  But they only show results, if they are used properly and for a long enough time. For Homemade treatment, you can also simply massage a small amount of almond oil around your eyes using your ring finger to treat dark circles and fines lines. For me, skipping the night cream is a big no-no !

SOFTEN ROUGH FEET

Are your feet rough, dry or cracked? The simple remedy is wash your feet then slather on Vaseline or any thick moisturizer on your feet every night.  You can massage them with some warm Coconut oil/ Olive oil if Vaseline/moisturizer is not available. Then wear cotton socks and go to sleep. The socks ensure the moisturizer sticks to your skin and penetrates easily and in the morning you’ll have super soft feet. Give it a try, it is one of the outstanding overnight beauty treatments for your feet.

AVOID UNRULY HAIR

It’s true that turning over during the night will cause friction that will lead to frizz and breakage. Solution? Get yourself a satin or Silk pillow cover. Its slippery surface will let your hair to slip all through the night with minimum damage. In addition it will be a true luxury experience for you. It also can help your face look fresh and crease-free in the morning!  Also, make sure you brush your hair properly before you say “Hi” to your pillow. Always start at the ends and work your way up to the root, this will prevent your hair from breakage. Sleeping in a loose braid will also help prevent knots in the morning.

KEEP YOUR LIPS MOISTURIZED

Wake up with soft and kissable lips by applying a thin layer of Vaseline or Almond/Coconut oil before going to bed at night. Exfoliation is also one of the best way to get super soft lips for both guys and ladies. Sugar lip scrub is not only gentle but also a natural way of removing dead skin without risking any chemical irritation or damage. You can also add natural honey and olive oil to moisturize your lips at the same time. This is the best homemade lip exfoliator you can never go wrong with. After exfoliation, apply Vaseline as usual regularly to have soft, smooth lips when you wake up. There are many lip balms are also available that are made from natural extracts, you can pick them too.

Get those thicker and Long EYELASHES / eyebrows

You can get the thicker and long eyelashes or eyebrows easily by applying castor oil or Oilve Oil. Massage gently to your eyelashes/eyebrows before going to bed at night. The result may visible after 8 weeks or so. It’s worth trying, especially when it’s free!

Get soft, youthful and beautiful hands that everyone wants to touch

By now, you already know the trick to have soft feet, here’s how you can have soft hands as well. Start by exfoliating your hands with a homemade scrub using sugar and olive oil. Now, use vitamin E oil or your regular hand cream to massage your hands. Wear a pair of gloves and go to sleep. You will wake up in the morning with smoother, softer and younger looking hands.

KILL THAT PIMPLE!

This article would be incomplete if I would not discuss about those dirty pimples! We all know the pathetic timing of pimples – they strike you right before a big event. Isn’t it? But don’t you worry about it. Simply, dab a little toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed. Leave it overnight and wash it in the morning to make your breakout less noticeable.
